What is GW0742?

GW0742 just like its older brother Cardarine, is a PPARδ receptor agonist and was created by the same scientists that created Cardarine. Many users turn to GW0742 in hopes of getting all of the benefits of Cardarine without the cancer risk.

Unfortunately, empirical information on GW0742 is scarce, as GW0742 is hard to source and only a few legitimate vendors sell it. So not many people are experimenting with it and reporting their experiences. On top of that, the scientific data we have on it is also limited.

This article is a comprehensive breakdown and guide on GW0742 based on the latest scientific data and the careful analysis of hundreds of anecdotal reports and experiences online. Enjoy.

Research Based
The A and/or number in parentheses beside each benefit or side effect means that the information provided is based on anecdotal evidence, while the number refers to at least one clinical or animal trial that supports the claim. You can find the specific trial(s) at the end of the article.

Benefits

The benefits of GW 0742 are very similar to that of Cardarine and may vary from person to person. But in general, expect a similar experience with GW0742 as Cardarine.

Increased Endurance & Stamina [1][A]

GW 0742 will give you a massive boost in endurance and stamina much like Cardarine. The difference between the two in terms of this benefit is very thin, and based on the anecdotal cycle reports of other users and my own experience GW0742 is slightly better.

Improved Cardiovascular Health [2]

GW 0742 decreases your bad cholesterol (LDL) and increases your good cholesterol (HDL). It will treat dyslipidemia, and mitigate increases in cholesterol the same as Cardarine does.

It’s also been proven to treat heart conditions like right-side hypertrophy (which happens as a result of pulmonary hypertension and hyperglycemia).

Fat Loss [3][A]

GW 0742 is reported to cause more fat loss than Cardarine by some users, but take it with a grain of salt. It works by activating the genes involved in burning fat and prioritizes using stored fat as a source of energy. The same mechanism of action as Cardarine.

Anti Diabetic Properties [4]

GW 0742 is proven to improve glucose homeostasis in diabetic rats. Meaning that it will lower elevated blood sugar levels, which prevents insulin resistance.

This property of GW 0742 makes it an excellent drug to stack with MK 677 (which is proven to cause insulin resistance when taken for long periods), and a generally good drug against diabetes.

Side Effects

GW0742 isn’t as well-researched as Cardarine, so the only two side effects that it’s been scientifically proven to cause are:

  • Heart enlargement
  • Muscle type switching

But despite that, I personally assume that it will have the same side effects as Cardarine.

Heart Enlargement [4]

GW 0742 has been shown to enlarge the heart in a way that very intense cardio does. Though there have been no signs of pathological cardiac hypertrophy. So this side effect isn’t necessarily dangerous.

Muscle Fiber Type Switching [4]

Like Cardarine, GW 0742 may be able to convert Type 2 muscle fibres into Type 1 muscle fibres, in the same way that intense cardio does.

Type 1 muscle fibres = slow twitch

  • Suited for endurance-based activities like long-distance running, swimming and cycling

Type 2 muscle fibres = fast twitch

  • Suited for explosiveness – sprinting, weight lifting, power-generating sports

Endurance athletes naturally tend to have a greater Type 1 to Type 2 muscle fibers ratio. Chemicals like GW 0742, and Cardarine, were created to act as endurance PEDs, so it should be no surprise that they contribute to an increase in Type 1 muscle fibers.

This may be counter-productive to bodybuilders (but great for endurance athletes). As a bodybuilder, I believe that if you actively focus your efforts on lifting weights rather than cardio you will not experience this side effect.

Cancer

Whether GW 0742 is cancer-causing in rats (and potentially humans) like Cardarine is still unknown due to a lack of research. Hopefully, more studies will come out and we will know for sure whether GW is a safer alternative than Cardarine in this regard. Until then, all we can do is speculate.

But, if the cancer-causing properties in Cardarine result from its PPARδ agonistic properties, we can assume that GW 0742 shares an equal potential to cause cancer.

Brain Damage

Whether GW 0752 can cause brain damage like Cardarine is unknown.

But I assume that the elevated IL-6 (cytokine linked to brain cell damage) that Cardarine has been shown to have is also present with GW 0742.

Liver Fibrosis

Another side effect that is present with Cardarine, but unproven with GW 0742 is liver fibrosis. This is when the liver uses an excess of proteins for its regeneration. It’s a scary side effect that decreases blood flow through the liver and impairs its ability to regenerate.

It was originally found in rats with liver disease that were given Cardarine. In theory, it can be caused if you stacked GW 07442 or Cardarine with a hepatoxic SARM.

But, I’ve yet to see it even after receiving hundreds of Cardarine + SARM cycles.

If you use GW 0742 responsibly, and with a lover-protecting supplement like NAC you should be alright.

Dosage Protocol

GW 0742 should be taken at 10 – 20 mg/day for no more than 8 weeks.

It can be used as a standalone compound, or combined with other research chemicals, SARMs, or even AAS to create a synergistic effect.

As far as taking it goes, the process is simple:

  1. Decide a dosage from 10 to 20 mg (always start low when experimenting with new chemicals)
  2. Take it every day for as long as you need to (but not longer than 8 weeks)
  3. GW 0742s half-life is unclear, so the dose should be split into 3 1/3 and taken throughout the day. Once in the morning, noon, and night./*! elementor - v3.16.0 - 09-10-2023 */<br /> .elementor-widget-image{text-align:center}.elementor-widget-image a{display:inline-block}.elementor-widget-image a img[src$=".svg"]{width:48px}.elementor-widget-image img{vertical-align:middle;display:inline-block}

Conclusion

GW 0742 is an incredible compound, very similar to GW 501516 (Cardarine). While it does have some slight differences, it would be very hard to pin them down precisely as it simply isn’t nearly as researched as its older brother.

It’s also very hard to get, so users very rarely get the chance to experiment and report their cycles. Though the reports I’ve found so far have been very promising.
